HSM (HARDWARE SECURITY MODULE)
HSMs are systems dedicated to secure cryptographic keys and cryptographic transactions physically and logically. The purpose of HSM is to protect sensitive data against theft with its highly secure transaction structure. HSMs are the solutions for creating cryptographic keys, storing and saving these keys, and performing cryptographic operations using these keys.
There are two main groups of HSMs: Payment HSMs and General Purpose HSMs. General purpose HSMs are used for digital signatures, CAs, TSMs, PKI and e-Invoicing projects. Payment HSMs are used for securing and verifying PIN numbers and protecting card holder data, insurance and health information files. Perso HSMs are used for EMV data preparation and EMV and NFC personalization.

Thales payShield 10K
Payshield 10K is the payment HSM solution of Thales. These HSMs are used in banking and insurance sector for protecting card data and EMV transaction processing with ATMs and POS terminals. You can also use payShield 10K for NFC Host Card Emulation projects with appropriate software. It can be also used for EMV data preparation and personalization by installing a special firmware package. payShield HSM speeds can be upgraded in the field. They are FIPS 140 Level 3 and certified according to PCI HSM standards. |
